AI-generated cover art: disclosure and source records

Record whether artwork contains generated imagery, ordinary editing or a mixture, then check the applicable tool terms, visual permissions and destination requirements. An image generator’s output is not automatically free of rights or identity issues.

Keep a visual-source record

Save the tool and model where known, generation and export dates, relevant entitlement, source images, prompts where appropriate and human edits. Identify the exact final cover. Do not upload private photographs or another person’s identity material without the required authority.

Review the final image itself

Check recognisable people, logos, protected characters, misleading artist references and text errors. A licence to use the tool does not clear every depicted element. Keep any separate permissions with the source record and seek appropriate advice if the result raises unresolved rights questions.

Check disclosure and copyright separately

Ask DistroBolt what current artwork declaration or source evidence is required for the actual destination. Do not invent a universal AI-cover label rule. U.S. Copyright Office AI guidance addresses human authorship in its own system; it does not provide a worldwide ownership guarantee for every generated image.

Approve the delivery export

Compare the image with the approved release title and artist identity, and obtain approval for the exact export. Keep ordinary artwork quality and accuracy checks even when the image is AI-generated. This guide does not promise acceptance, exclusive rights or a live automated artwork-classification feature.
