DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES

Review AI-assisted lyrics before approving a release

Review AI-assisted lyrics as an actual text intended for performance and publication. Human proofreading improves accuracy, but it cannot guarantee originality, clear every reference or establish exclusive rights in generated words.

Preserve the draft history

Keep the tool, relevant terms, generated draft, human revisions and final approved text. Record who supplied prompts or source text and what actually appears in the recording. Avoid pasting private or uncleared material into a tool merely to test a lyrical idea.

Review meaning and accuracy

Read for unintended statements, misleading identity claims, problematic references and language errors. Have a competent speaker review languages the artist cannot assess. Compare the final lyric sheet with the performed audio, including repeated sections. Do not use a spelling check as evidence that a text is cleared or original.

Investigate recognisable borrowed material

Flag any passage that resembles known lyrics or includes a requested adaptation or translation. Check permissions with appropriate help where needed. A detector or similarity search cannot provide a blanket legal clearance. Do not assume a short passage, a changed word or an attribution makes the use acceptable in every territory.

Approve credits and delivery

Record the actual human contributions and required AI disclosure under the relevant route. Keep authorship, public credits and contractual payment arrangements distinct. Ask DistroBolt about lyric submission support and retain the approved final version. This checklist does not promise originality, a copyright registration outcome or acceptance by every destination.
