Record the human contributions to an AI-assisted song

A human-contribution record explains who created and performed each part of an AI-assisted recording. It supports accurate credits and review; it does not automatically establish copyright protection or clear third-party inputs.

Start with the exact master

Record the working project, final export, creation dates and relevant tool versions. Identify whether the notes describe the whole track or one component. Keep an earlier generated draft distinct from the final human-edited recording. A process description should point to actual files rather than unsupported percentages of human creativity.

List contributions by role

Use rows for lyrics, melody, arrangement, instruments, vocals, production and editing. Record the person, activity, evidence reference and relevant tool involvement. Example: a singer may perform all final vocals while a generated instrumental remains underneath; preserve both facts instead of labelling the entire project as either wholly human or wholly generated.

Keep approvals and rights separate

Ask contributors to review their factual role descriptions and approved public credits. Retain relevant permissions privately. A credit or process note does not decide ownership, publishing collection or recording-income shares. Keep those agreements linked but distinct, especially when different people control source material.

Use the record for the actual declaration

Compare the production facts with the destination’s current definitions and ask DistroBolt about supported fields. Preserve any submitted version and later correction. U.S. Copyright Office AI material is jurisdiction-specific, not a universal copyright certificate. No automatic human-authorship assessment or AI detection feature is announced here.
