DISTRIBUTION AND DECISIONS
How to prepare a Beatport release through DistroBolt
Contact DistroBolt about Beatport before treating it as a confirmed destination. You can enquire about registration through us; if you are already approved or already have a Beatport presence, tell our team so we can review delivery details.
Approval and delivery are separate steps
Beatport’s guidance directs artists and labels to distribute through a distributor. A customer account used to buy or listen to music is not, on its own, confirmation of a delivery arrangement. Do not assume that opening a DistroBolt account automatically approves your artist or label for Beatport.
Tell us what already exists
- Your artist and label names, with the exact spelling you intend to use.
- Existing Beatport artist, label and release links, if any. State clearly if this is a first application.
- Any approval correspondence or delivery relationship relevant to your catalogue. Share references, not passwords.
- The intended release, versions, genre and rights status. Identify original mixes, remixes and any licensed audio.
- Whether another distributor currently supplies the same releases or label, and whether a coordinated catalogue move is needed.
A practical enquiry sequence
- Send DistroBolt the information above and ask what registration or approval step applies to your case.
- Have the team confirm the relevant artist/label identity, delivery arrangement and documentation. If you already have an account or approval, explain exactly which one.
- Confirm any applicable costs, plan requirements and delivery lead time in writing before promising a Beatport launch. This guide does not set a Beatport fee or turnaround.
- Prepare the final approved masters, artwork and accurate version and contributor information using the release checklist.
- After delivery, check the actual store page: correct artist and label, track titles, mixes, genre and availability. Send any mismatch to DistroBolt with links and the release reference.
Rights and versions need attention
Beatport states that sampled material must be royalty-free under its applicable licence or cleared, and that unauthorised remixes are not accepted. Do not interpret “royalty-free” as permission for every use. Keep the underlying licence and use the sample-clearance guide and remix permissions to organise the relevant evidence.
If you are moving an existing catalogue
Keep existing recording identifiers, artwork, release metadata and store links together. Ask DistroBolt to review the move before changing the earlier delivery. Do not take down releases merely to force a new label or artist mapping. The catalogue transfer guide explains the broader sequence and the limits of any matching outcome.
What is not promised
Registration, store acceptance, editorial features, charts, a particular genre placement or a live date are not guaranteed. Beatport’s rules and your actual distribution arrangement govern what can happen. DistroBolt can discuss the next step; this page is not confirmation of an individual application or permission to deliver music you do not control.
Common questions
I already have a Beatport account. What should I send?
Tell DistroBolt whether it is a customer login, an artist/label presence or an approved delivery arrangement, and provide the relevant public links or reference. Do not send the password.
Can I promise Beatport in a press announcement now?
Wait until the applicable approval and delivery details have been confirmed and the release status has been checked. An enquiry is not a confirmed destination.
