Gapless albums: prepare transitions and separate tracks
A gapless album needs coordinated track boundaries and playback checks. Separate tracks should preserve the intended continuous sequence without assuming every player, setting or device reproduces the same transitions.
Approve the continuous reference
Keep the album sequence, intended boundaries and a continuous review reference where useful. Identify transitions that overlap musically and those with deliberate pauses. Do not add standard silence between every export when the approved design calls for continuity.
Prepare coordinated track files
Have the engineer export the sequence against agreed boundaries and check for duplicated tails, missing samples or accidental gaps. Reassemble the separate files in order in a review session. Keep the reference and exact export versions so a transition problem can be reproduced.
Separate gapless and crossfade
Spotify documents playback transition controls including gapless playback and crossfade. Those are player behaviours, not evidence that a delivered sequence is correct. Test the intended order with relevant settings identified, and do not rely on a crossfade to conceal an export error.
Verify the delivered result
Ask DistroBolt about supported album delivery and any relevant boundary information. Check the actual destination once available and record the playback context if a gap appears. Preserve the original masters while investigating. No identical playback across every service or automated DistroBolt gapless certification is guaranteed.
