DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Prepare artist royalty reports from a label ledger
An artist royalty report should trace the label’s calculation to actual source lines and the applicable agreement. A dashboard screenshot alone may not explain periods, adjustments, costs or the amount available for payment.
Define the report scope
Record the artist or recipient, affected products, recordings, reporting period and currencies. Distinguish usage dates from posting dates and original statements from corrections. Keep missing reports labelled unknown rather than silently entering zero income.
Show the calculation path
Identify the source amount, applicable contractual basis, documented deductions, approved recovery where relevant and recipient allocation. Link each step to source and agreement references. Do not assume the artist percentage applies to gross retail sales or that every label contract uses the same base.
Reconcile balances and payments
Show relevant opening balances, current entries, adjustments and closing position. Keep available earnings and completed bank payments separate. Check prior imports and payout references to avoid counting a transaction twice. Do not modify accepted splits to hide an unexplained difference.
Provide a controlled review copy
Share only the recipient’s relevant information through an appropriate private route. Keep the report version, approval and any questions. Confirm the actual DistroBolt export and account capabilities before promising automatic artist statements. This guide produces no real report, authorises no payment and certifies no contractual entitlement.
