DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Track lyric corrections without losing approved versions
A lyric correction has at least three records: approved wording, timing against a specific master and the provider submission. Keep them distinct so a text change does not silently overwrite an already approved delivery.
Identify the existing version
Record the song link, recording identifier, master filename, lyric version and destination. Save the actual incorrect line and its context. Distinguish the artist’s approved text from what a service currently displays; they may be different records.
Log the proposed correction
Use fields for old wording, corrected wording, reason, reviewer and approval date. Mark uncertain words for the artist rather than guessing. If the change affects line breaks, repeated sections or the length of the sung passage, add a separate timing-review task.
Track submission separately
Record the provider, submitted version, date and case reference. Apple’s artist help describes a correction request route, but that does not prove every service accepts the same change through the same account. Do not label a revision published merely because the text file was saved.
Verify and retain history
Check the intended recording after the provider response and note the observed outcome. Keep superseded text and timing references clearly labelled. If another person submits a correction, coordinate one approved source to avoid conflicting variants. This practice does not announce an automatic DistroBolt lyric-history feature or guarantee immediate public updates.
