DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Using your release in a client's advertisement
Using a release in a client advertisement is a separate permission question from distributing it to music stores. Map the recording, composition and campaign uses before promising that the client can publish the audio anywhere.
Define the campaign
Record the client, product, media, paid advertising, territories, duration and intended edits. Include cutdowns and any use of artist names, voices or images. A licence for one social post should not be silently extended to a television campaign or a different client.
Confirm who controls each right
Identify the master and underlying musical work, including collaborators and third-party material. Owning one contribution or receiving a distribution split does not establish authority to grant every campaign right. Seek the relevant recording and composition permissions and review any image or performer issues separately.
Check the platform-specific use
TikTok distinguishes commercial use from ordinary library availability. The presence of a song in a music picker is not a universal licence for the client’s advertising. Confirm the actual campaign route and any required rights documentation without bypassing account or library restrictions.
Keep the approved grant and version
Save the signed or otherwise valid authorisation, final audio, scope, credits and any expiry conditions. Have a qualified adviser review uncertain terms. Ask DistroBolt about relevant delivery or claim coordination, but do not present distribution as automatic advertising clearance. No client licence, campaign publication or rights waiver is issued by this guide.
