Spotify Canvas versus a music video: choose the right asset

Spotify Canvas and a music video perform different jobs. Choose the intended listener experience first, then confirm the current tool, eligible release and technical requirements for that specific asset.

Separate the two purposes

Canvas is a looping visual associated with a track, while a music video is a video work with its own audio and visual sequence. Do not order one while assuming it automatically creates or delivers the other. Keep older Clips instructions separate from current video tools.

Check current platform guidance

Spotify publishes Canvas guidelines and a separate video-upload workflow. Use the relevant requirements and actual artist-account access. Do not infer support or approval from a file extension or from another artist’s account.

Brief the right production

For a loop, review visual continuity, composition and the exact track association. For a music video, prepare the approved audio, story, rights, edits and required delivery format. Clear the relevant imagery and people for the intended use. A short loop is not automatically suitable as a full video or ad.

Approve and verify independently

Keep separate file references, approvals and destination status for each deliverable. Inspect the actual result where available and report the specific issue. This guide does not upload media or certify a DistroBolt delivery integration, and neither asset guarantees streams or playlist attention.
