Apple motion artwork: prepare the brief and check eligibility

Apple motion artwork needs its own production brief and a confirmed delivery path. A looped cover file is not proof that the artist, album or distributor can publish it through the intended Apple feature.

Identify the artwork type

Keep album motion artwork distinct from artist-page motion imagery. Record the actual product or artist page and the source approved still artwork. A deliverable for one placement should not be silently treated as suitable for the other.

Use Apple’s current specification

Apple publishes guidance for creating and delivering motion artwork and links to relevant design requirements. Confirm the current format, eligibility and supported delivery route before production. No active DistroBolt or WBBT motion-artwork delivery is verified in this guide.

Define the creative constraints

Record movement, loop behaviour, text treatment, required crops and rights in the image and any people shown. Preserve the connection to the approved release identity. Do not invent technical limits from an old tutorial or assume a general social-video export is accepted.

Approve the exact files

Have the authorised artist and relevant technical reviewer check the final exports against the actual specification. Keep the source, review and delivery reference together. A submitted file does not guarantee editorial acceptance or display. This guide does not animate artwork, submit it or promise availability to every listener.
