DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Royalty currencies: source amount, conversion and payout
A royalty can pass through several currency records before reaching a bank account. Preserve the original amount, each conversion and the eventual settlement rather than comparing unlike numbers as if money had disappeared.
Identify each currency stage
Record the statement currency, account currency, requested payout currency and bank settlement currency. They may be identical or different. Keep the amount, date and reference at each stage. A dashboard symbol alone does not establish which exchange rate or fee was applied to a specific transaction.
Use an explicit conversion example
Assume a hypothetical USD100 source amount is converted at EUR0.90 per USD. The model gives EUR90 before any separately stated charge. If a EUR2 fee then applies, EUR88 remains. These invented inputs illustrate reconciliation; they are not a quoted exchange rate, a DistroBolt fee schedule or a promised bank deposit.
Find the actual rate and charges
Ask the responsible provider which conversion date, rate and disclosed fees apply. Compare the transaction confirmation and bank record, including any additional conversion by the receiving institution. Another distributor’s foreign-exchange terms do not establish DistroBolt’s terms. Do not calculate a contractual discrepancy using today’s public rate alone.
Keep the evidence for bookkeeping
Retain original and converted amounts without silently replacing the source currency. Give your bookkeeper the relevant statement and settlement records through an appropriate private route. The exchange rate used for accounting or tax may require separate professional advice. No currency hedge, guaranteed rate or tax treatment is offered by this guide.
