PLATFORMS, RIGHTS AND RELEASE SUPPORT

How to get your music on Spotify with DistroBolt

To release music on Spotify, prepare the finished recording and release information, submit through your approved DistroBolt account, confirm the destination and check the published result. Spotify for Artists is a separate artist-management tool, not the ordinary audio-upload route.

Prepare a release that is ready to deliver

  • Use the final approved audio, with the format requested by the current upload form. Check the correct version, full ending and track order.
  • Prepare square artwork, accurate titles, writer and performer credits, label name, language and explicit-content information. Use the artwork checklist.
  • Confirm permission for the master, composition uses, samples, beats, covers and visuals as applicable. Owning a downloaded file does not establish those rights.
  • Keep the correct existing Spotify artist link, if one exists. If this is your first release, say so instead of choosing a similar artist.
  • For an existing recording, retain its release records and identifiers. Use the transfer guide before changing the previous delivery.

Submit through the actual DistroBolt route

  1. New customers apply for account access; application, payment and release submission are separate events. Existing customers should use their approved account.
  2. Open New Release → Audio Release → Create New Release. Prepare the requested release details, files and credits. Enter your intended label name for each release; white label is automatic.
  3. Check that Spotify is among the intended supported destinations and that the artist identity, dates and rights information are correct. Ask DistroBolt about an unclear field rather than guessing a profile or default selection.
  4. Review everything before submission, retain the release reference and respond to correction requests. A submitted status is not proof of a live Spotify release.

Allow for checks without promising a date

DistroBolt preparation and delivery, Spotify processing and any correction work are different stages. Keep the date provisional until the relevant status has been checked. If you plan an editorial pitch, make room for the recording to appear as upcoming in Spotify for Artists; its pitching requirements are not a DistroBolt delivery guarantee. See promotion in the release plan.

Check the release as a listener

  • Open the real release link and check the intended artist page.
  • Compare the audio version, titles, artwork, credits and track sequence with the approved record.
  • Check the availability relevant to your intended audience; a successful view in one territory does not prove worldwide availability.
  • Send a specific problem to DistroBolt with the release reference, URL, affected track and intended correction. Do not create a duplicate delivery to fix a typo.

Claim the artist tools separately

Spotify for Artists access allows eligible artists or their teams to manage their presence and review audience data. A Spotify listening account, artist profile and distributor account are different things. DistroBolt does not promise instant claim approval or a preferred-provider shortcut.

Understand costs and recording income

Review current DistroBolt distribution costs and the applicable terms. The standard allocation is 90% to the artist side and 10% to DistroBolt; plan fees and optional Marketplace work are separate. An illustrative €100 applicable recording-income amount therefore allocates €90 and €10 before any other applicable treatment, not a fixed Spotify rate per stream.

Spotify also applies track-level monetisation requirements. A visible stream count is not a payable balance. Use the reporting guide for eligibility, usage periods and statements, and check composition royalties separately.

Common questions

Can I upload ordinary releases directly in Spotify for Artists?

Use your distributor for the recording and release metadata. The artist tools serve profile, audience and eligible promotional functions.

Do I need an artist page before my first release?

Tell DistroBolt that no existing page exists and check the identity information. Artist-tool access is a separate process once the appropriate profile can be identified.
