DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Prepare an instrumental or TV mix for a licensed use
An instrumental or TV mix for a licensed placement needs a precise delivery brief. Confirm which vocals and effects remain rather than relying on a filename or a presumed industry definition.
Define the requested version
A client may want no vocals, no lead vocal or another specified combination. Ask about backing vocals, ad-libs and vocal effects explicitly. Record duration, start reference, ending, format and intended audiovisual use. A TV mix label alone does not prove which parts the client expects.
Export from the authorised source
Where possible, prepare the agreed version from the approved production session. Do not assume an automated vocal-removal output is equivalent to a clean session export. Check for residual speech, changed balances or artefacts, and have the appropriate artist or engineer approve the result.
Keep identity and permissions clear
Link the alternate file to its source recording and licence scope. A placement deliverable is not automatically a new streaming release. Ask about identification and distribution if public release is also intended. Keep the composition, master and any client-use permissions distinct from delivery of the audio file.
Approve the exact export
Compare it with the brief and full mix, including the beginning, ending and alignment where required. Retain the client specification, approval and file reference. Do not promise a universally accepted format or a new DistroBolt sync-licensing service. Rights and commercial terms require their own authorised agreement.

Continue your release planning
- Gapless albums: prepare transitions and separate tracks
- Use file checksums to identify the approved master
- Name audio versions so your team selects the correct master
Ask the DistroBolt team about your release. Send a concise question and release reference; never send account passwords or verification codes.
