DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Prepare a radio edit and its supporting submission details
A radio edit needs its own approved audio and accurate submission details. A shorter filename or a clean tag does not prove that the recording meets a station’s actual requirements.
Obtain the station brief
Record the requested duration, content classification, file format and submission route from the relevant outlet. Separate a request for a clean version from an arrangement edit. Do not assume every station requires the same length or processing.
Approve the edit itself
Check musical joins, lyric context, opening and ending against the artist’s intended performance. Record the exact source and edited master. If the recording is materially changed, review identification under IFPI guidance rather than automatically copying the original ISRC.
Prepare matching supporting information
Use the approved title and version, artist, relevant credits, recording identifier and contact route. Confirm that artwork and lyric information match the edit. Keep any full-length or instrumental version clearly distinguished so the recipient does not select the wrong file.
Submit only through an authorised process
Keep the requested format and final approval with the handover record. A station’s receipt is not a promise of broadcast, and broadcast permission can require separate review. This guide does not edit audio, contact radio stations or guarantee airplay; it prepares a controlled version record.
