DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Respond to a rights claim with a complete evidence record
A rights claim needs a complete, factual case record and a response through the applicable process. Distinguish an automated match, a contractual complaint and a legal removal notice before choosing what to do.
Preserve the notice and identifiers
Record the sender, platform, case reference, affected links, recording identifiers, stated basis and deadline. Verify that the notice and response route are genuine. Keep the original message privately and remove unnecessary personal details from working summaries. Do not ignore a deadline while debating a dashboard screenshot.
Match evidence to the claim
Collect the exact master, source materials, relevant licences, agreement versions and approvals. Identify what each document actually covers. A purchase receipt without the licence scope may not answer the issue. Separate confirmed facts from the other party’s allegations and from your own unanswered questions.
Choose the supported response route
YouTube describes Content ID disputes and appeals as distinct steps with potential escalation. Do not treat an appeal or counter-notification as a routine automated reply. Obtain appropriate advice for legal notices or uncertain rights, and have an authorised person approve any statement. An assistant cannot determine ownership merely from the presence of a credit.
Track the outcome and follow-up
Keep submitted responses, receipts, status changes and the final decision or unresolved issue. Verify the affected catalogue or video after the response. Do not promise release of funds, removal of claims or a fixed resolution time. Preserve evidence even if a platform status changes; one system’s outcome may not settle all contractual questions.
