DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES

Receive royalty splits without distributing your own music

A collaborator can receive an agreed recording-income split without buying a plan to distribute their own music. Keep recipient access, acceptance and payment verification separate from release-owner powers.

Confirm the intended invitation

Check the release owner, recording, intended account identity and agreed allocation. Use the actual invitation and authorised account route. DistroBolt’s reviewed guidance requires acceptance to receive the share and describes free recipient accounts. Do not purchase a distribution subscription merely to resolve recipient access.

Review before accepting

Compare the displayed recording and percentage with the written agreement. Ask the owner or DistroBolt about a mismatch before confirming it. An artist name alone may not identify the right account. Keep codes and passwords private, and avoid opening a second recipient identity because the original invitation is difficult to find.

Check statements and available payments

An accepted share, a posted royalty and a completed payout are different stages. Use the relevant recording, service, period and currency when checking amounts. Follow the actual account’s supported payout verification process rather than sending bank details into a general chat. No automatic monthly bank transfer is promised here.

Maintain the collaboration history

Retain acceptance status, the agreement and any effective-date clarification. Receiving a split does not automatically give control over the release, artist profile or composition royalties. If the collaborator later wants to release their own music, assess that distribution use separately. Historical corrections and pending invitation amounts require a specific review, not an assumed rule from another platform.
