ARTIST DISCOVERY, PROFILES AND CREDITS
How to get your music on Shazam and check your artist page
To prepare your music for Shazam, organise the recording and accurate release information, confirm the relevant delivery through DistroBolt and check the recognised track and artist page. Shazam recognition, a streaming play and a royalty statement describe different events.
Start with the released recording
Keep the final audio, track title, version, artists, ISRC and release links together. If you have a live recording, radio edit or remix, identify that exact version. A social-media clip and the distributed recording can contain different audio. Use the release preparation checklist before submitting new music rather than relying on a filename or a search result.
Confirm delivery through DistroBolt
The release Services list includes an Apple Music / iTunes / Shazam destination group. Prepare a release in your approved account through New Release → Audio Release, then check the destinations and requirements shown for that release. Ask the team about a missing destination or an unclear delivery status before submitting again. The Apple Music delivery guide covers preparation and review; this page focuses on the subsequent recognition and identity checks.
Understand the artist page
Apple says Shazam artist pages are created following a distributor’s Apple Music delivery, with the artist image linked to the image submitted through Apple Music for Artists. A missing or incorrect page can need Apple’s catalogue review. This does not establish a guaranteed recognition date, a separate DistroBolt claim button or automatic access to every artist tool. Use the Apple artist-image guide for image preparation.
Run a useful recognition check
- Play a representative section of the exact delivered recording from a legitimate source and identify it with the Shazam app.
- Open the result and compare the title, artist, version and available listening destination with your release record.
- Note the date, device, country where known, audio source and section used. Keep the returned track link or a screenshot without unrelated private information.
- If a different version appears, compare the relevant passage and metadata before concluding that the entire delivery is wrong.
- If there is no result, distinguish recognition failure from an unavailable artist page or incorrect listening link. Send that precise question to DistroBolt.
This is a practical test record, not a method for manufacturing discovery counts. A single successful or failed check does not establish how every device, territory or audio environment will behave.
Explain differing counts before changing a release
Apple describes Shazam Count as recognition activity. A shared passage can match another version, and the app and artist dashboard can use different processing schedules. Record the source, version and reporting period; a recognition total is not a listener total, a paid stream or an invoice. Review listening analytics separately from recording-income reports. Do not multiply recognitions by a supposed fixed royalty rate.
An example of a clear support enquiry
A hypothetical artist has a studio single and a live version with similar introductions. Their note states which master was played, the section tested, the returned track link and the intended release link. They ask whether the identity or delivery record needs review. That is more useful than “Shazam is broken”, and avoids repeatedly delivering the same recording to try to change a counter.
Keep the next action proportionate
For missing delivery, bring the DistroBolt release reference. For an artist mix-up, include the intended and incorrect profile links using the artist-mapping checklist. For lyrics or other Shazam page elements, ask which responsible service controls that element; delivery of audio does not automatically grant editing access. DistroBolt can help review the question and the available route. Keep account passwords and verification codes out of support messages.
Common questions
Do Shazam recognitions count as Apple Music streams?
They measure different actions. Use the relevant dashboard definition and actual financial statements rather than treating recognition as a payable stream.
Should I upload the recording again if Shazam finds another version?
Ask for a review of the exact result, audio passage and existing release first. Another delivery can create additional catalogue problems.
Will paying for distribution guarantee recognition or a chart position?
No. Delivery, recognition, artist tools and audience response have separate requirements and processing.
