PRACTICAL ARTIST RELEASE WORK
Show your concerts on Spotify: check the event source and artist match
Spotify imports eligible concert listings from its current ticketing partners. Prepare an accurate event record at the source and check the artist match; distributing a recording does not create a concert listing.
Start with a real, confirmed event
Use the actual booking information and the event organiser’s authorised listing. Record the artist billing, event name, venue, start time, local time zone and legitimate ticket destination. Separate a confirmed public show from a possible booking or an online listening event. Do not announce an event or change the organiser’s page without the appropriate authority.
Check the current source route
Spotify’s artist guidance says concert information is imported from supported ticketing partners. Its current list includes providers such as Bandsintown, Eventbrite and Ticketmaster, and explicitly excludes Songkick; it also does not display virtual events. The partner list can change. Check the provider actually used for your event rather than assuming an old connection or a distribution upload will work.
Match the artist and required fields
Spotify lists artist name, start time, venue name and event name as required event information. Use the correct artist identity and verify the destination in the source listing. Similar names, incomplete billing or inconsistent venue details make diagnosis harder. Keep the organiser’s event reference and the intended Spotify artist link together so a support enquiry can identify the exact issue.
Check the public result before promoting it
Allow for the provider’s processing and inspect the artist’s public concert information. Verify the date, city, venue, billing and ticket destination. Do not turn a typical import estimate into a DistroBolt deadline. If something is wrong, compare the source and the displayed result first; identify whether the correction belongs with the event provider, the platform or the artist mapping.
Maintain the event when plans change
Coordinate cancellations, moved venues or timing changes through the authorised source and check the resulting public information. Keep the artist website and other announcements aligned. Use the live-show preparation guide for performance planning and the profile-mapping checklist for an identity mismatch. A listing does not guarantee recommendations, ticket sales or attendance, and it does not allocate live-performance income through distribution splits.
Keep a useful working record
- Confirmed event, organiser and authorised source
- Current ticketing-partner route checked
- Artist, event, venue and local start time recorded
- Public listing and ticket destination verified
- Named person responsible for changes and cancellations
Use these fields in your own project notes. This is an original preparation worksheet, not an upload form or a request to submit private information here.
An illustrative working example
A hypothetical artist sees the correct show on the ticket provider but the wrong city in a later announcement. The team compares the venue record and event reference, asks the authorised source to correct it and checks the public result before sharing another link. This is a troubleshooting sequence, not a claim that every provider updates at the same speed.
Common questions
Can I add a virtual show through this route?
Spotify’s current concert-listing guidance excludes virtual events. Use the actual platform’s supported event tools rather than calling a stream a physical concert.
Will sending my audio release create my concerts?
No. Release delivery and event listings are separate records and processes.
