Lyrics on Shazam: correct the right song and provider

A Shazam lyric correction needs the right song identity and the actual lyric provider. Do not assume that changing a music distributor’s text or an Apple artist biography updates Shazam lyrics.

Verify the matched recording

Keep the Shazam song link, artist page, actual recording version and related Apple Music product reference where available. Compare the identified audio with the intended master. A correct title attached to the wrong recording or artist is an identity issue before it is a lyric-transcription issue.

Use Apple’s documented distinction

Apple’s artist FAQ says Shazam artist pages are created from music delivered to Apple Music and identifies Musixmatch as Shazam’s lyric source. Page identity and lyric data therefore need separate checks. Do not send a lyric correction to an unrelated biography or artwork process.

Prepare the provider correction

Keep approved words, audio version and the exact incorrect passage. Use the current authorised Musixmatch route and verify its account requirements. Ask about an identity mismatch separately where needed. A completed submission is not proof that the Shazam display has refreshed.

Check the resulting song page

Revisit the actual matched recording and keep any case response. Apple notes that lyric display can be affected by licensing restrictions. Do not promise that every song will show lyrics or that an Apple artist-page edit changes every linked service. This guide does not provide an active Shazam API or automatic provider account connection through DistroBolt.
