DISTROBOLT ARTIST GUIDES
Format repeated verses and choruses without shorthand
Create a complete lyric sheet matching the performed sequence. Repeated verses or choruses need to remain traceable to their actual occurrences rather than being replaced with informal shorthand.
Transcribe the final sequence
Work from the approved master and record every performed section in order. Keep a working section map separately if useful. Do not assume an earlier demo has the same chorus count or ending as the release version.
Expand repetitions for the destination
Apple requires repeated lines to be written out rather than using a repeat instruction. For an invented line such as “The lights are coming home”, repeat the actual words for each performed occurrence. Do not insert “repeat three times” as sung text when the recording does not contain those words.
Check variations inside repeats
Listen for changed pronouns, shortened lines, backing responses and a different final refrain. Copying the first chorus into every position can introduce errors. Keep the plain text accurate before preparing timing; separate occurrences may have different durations even when their words match.
Approve text and timing separately
Have the relevant artist or lyric reviewer confirm the full sequence and formatting under the actual provider’s rules. Keep internal labels and notes out of the delivery where unsupported. Preserve a version linked to the exact master, then verify the submitted result. No universal format conversion or active DistroBolt lyric editor is promised.
